Free Will or Divine Design: Are We the Creators of Our Own Fate?

Exploring the Intersection of Predestination, Divine Will, and Human Agency!

The Illusion of Choice: Is Free Will Real?

Many spiritual teachings tell us that before birth, each soul enters a pre-designed life program. The belief is that while in human form, we forget this plan and assume we are the authors of our own Life’s Script or Book of Life making choices with Free Will. But are we really?

If life is entirely pre-designed, then even the so-called "choice" to awaken or stay asleep is simply part of the script. If every moment unfolds exactly as it was meant to, then those who awaken were always meant to, and those who don’t were never actually choosing to remain asleep—they were just following the role assigned to them. So where, then, is the moment of real Free Will?

The Divine Call: A True Moment of Choice, or Just Another Step in the Plan?

Some teachings claim that at a specific moment, individuals reach a Divine Call or a Divine Light Threshold —an intersection where they finally make a true Free Will choice: to continue living in the illusion of control or surrender to Divine Will.

But if everything is part of a pre-designed journey, wouldn’t even this so-called choice be predestined? If one chooses Divine Will, it’s because they were always meant to. If one clings to the illusion of control, that too was predetermined. Could it be that the idea of "awakening" itself is part of the program, not a break from it?

Is There Ever a True Opposition to Divine Will?

We are often told that true creation aligns with Divine Will rather than personal desires, that those who surrender to Divine Will experience peace, while those who resist remain trapped in suffering. But if we are all divine beings before coming into this world—if our existence is, by default, a manifestation of the Divine—then wouldn’t everything we do, consciously or unconsciously, already be an expression of Divine Will?

If that’s the case, then even those who seem to act against divine harmony, those who create fear-based systems and illusions of control, are still playing out their destined role in the grand design. There is no actual resistance, no true deviation from the divine plan—just different expressions of the same will.

Awakening: From What, and To What?

If everything is already Divine Will in action, then isn’t the idea of striving for awakening or surrendering to a higher plan simply another illusion? If there is no real opposition, no true separation, then what are we waking up from? And perhaps more importantly—what are we waking up to?

If the path of each person is already mapped out, then even the so-called decision to awaken or to remain unaware is not a choice at all. Some will awaken because they were always meant to, while others will remain as they are, not by their own volition but because that was their role in the grand design.

What, then, is the meaning of striving, of seeking, of questioning, if every action was already written?

Predestination or Infinite Possibilities?

Or perhaps the real truth is this: there is no pre-written plan at all. There are infinite plans. Infinite possibilities. And Divine Will is not a script we are following, but the very power through which we create reality in every moment.

What is Free Will? And Who is it For?

From the moment we separate Divine Will from Free Will, we create two energies—the divine and the human. But are they truly separate, or are they one and the same? If Divine Will expresses the intent to experience itself in flesh, then the very act of creation is a manifestation of that Divine Will, an infinite web of possibilities in which the divine experiences its own power through the expression of life itself.

And once this is set into motion, the moment we step into our humanness, Free Will emerges—the ability to choose within the very creation set forth by Divine Will.

So, is Free Will simply the divine, in human form, making choices within its own creation? If so, then every decision we make is not separate from Divine Will, but rather an extension of it. Free Will is the act of navigating an existence filled with possibilities, created by divine intention.

Then, awakening makes sense only in a reality where we hold the power to shape our experience. It is through awakening that we realise the immense capacity we have to create, to shift, and to redefine our paths. If we are truly Divine Will in motion, then awakening is not about breaking free from fate—it is about remembering our role as conscious creators, continuously shaping reality through the choices we make.

The Final Question: Illusion or Power?

So, is Free Will an illusion, or is it the divine unfolding through us? And if we truly understood the power we hold in shaping our reality, would we still seek comfort in the idea of predestination—or would we dare to step fully into the responsibility of creation?
